Starting To Show

We went up to Crystal Mine yesterday to do some digging around for crystals. We have done this a few times and have found several pieces or really small crystals but no really good decent sized examples yet. On the way up there are several groves of Aspen trees that over the next month the leaves will turn to nice shades of Yellow. Overall the trees are still mostly green but there is a very little bit of yellow starting to show up in them. I was actually looking for the plants I photographed last year seen in this post as I wanted to try working on getting some different images of them but I could not find them, so why I was walking around I took this image instead.

Display Plane in B&W

This is an image of one of the planes that was in the display area at the Air Races. I was working on finding different angles and ways to crop images to get something interesting and at the same time not have all the people that are walking around viewing the planes in the image. I thought this one with all the shiny chrome paneling would make a nice Black & White image.

Early Morning

These are a few more images from the Balloon Races that were taken in the early morning. In the top image with just enough light coming into the sky I was able to get a silhouette of the balloon from the Dawn Patrol. The next image is the sun rise with a flock of geese doing a fly by. The last image is another of the sunrise that has a look about it that I liked.

Paint Wall

This is a nice piece of abstract art work my kid is working on......at least I am guessing it is abstract. This is from a few weeks back at the new Children's Discovery Museum. They have a glass wall there that the kids get to paint all over and then when it is full they spray it down with water and squeegee it to clean all the paint off so the next group of kids can paint all over it.

Thunder Birds

These are from today's Thunder Birds practice show and even though they call it a practice show it is still pretty much a full show. I have seen them several times now and I don't think I could ever get tired of watching these jets fly.

This last one has been one of the harder ones for me to get. Over the past few years I have managed to get both jets as they pass each other in the frame only a few times. Though this one is slightly soft when you look at the original image it is one of the best ones of this type maneuver I have managed to get.

Air Races

All this week the Air Races are going on, so we will be going out there some this week. There is not to much going on yet other than some qualifying but we went ahead and went out today to look around and watch the planes for awhile. For a little bit there was also one jet from the Thunderbirds flying around checking the area out before their show Thursday, unfortunately they only do their full show Thursday then looks like they are up in Idaho for the weekend according to their schedule.

Mass Ascension

  These are a few of the images I took of the Mass Ascension at the Balloon Races.

This last image some people may recognize the balloon as it is the one that some family members from my Mom's side own and fly.

Balloon Race

We got up way earlier than I like and drove over to watch the Balloon Races. The ones from when it was still dark are the Dawn Patrol, which that and the Glow Show all happens between 5:00-6:00 am so you have to get there early to get your spot. Around 6:45 am they have the mass ascension with all the balloons that are participating go up. Later I will try to get some images of the mass ascension up.

Fall Is Just Around The Corner

I am sure some people will not be ready to see Summer leave us but Fall is just around the corner and for me it is a fun time to take photographs. I love the fall colors we get in the trees around here and every year for the last few years I have tried to get out at least a few times to photograph them. While I love the nature/landscape photos during this time the changing colors also make a great background for portraits as well.
